Dr. Walker is an Emergency Medicine physician and an Associate Professor of Health Science. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Howard University in Washington, D.C. and her Doctor of Medicine degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Walker completed her post-doctoral residency training in Emergency Medicine at St. John Hospital & Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan as well. In addition to acute medicine, Dr. Walker is passionate about health promotion and evidence-based methods to prevent disease and to stay healthy naturally. Consequently, Dr. Walker has presented extensively on disease prevention and health and wellness issues.
She is a medical correspondent on WTVM, an ABC affiliate in Columbus, GA, where she writes, produces and co-hosts a weekly health segment called “Real Talk with Dr. Paula.” She has also been featured on CNN discussing health disparities and health care reform. In addition, Dr. Walker serves on the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of Science, Technology, Ethics & Policy.
